4th Annual Candy Cane 5K is Coming Up!

Take Stock in Children and the YMCA of Florida's First Coast will be hosting the 4th Annual Candy Cane 5K, a fun holiday run/walk for the whole family. The run/walk begins at 8:30 on December 10 at Bestbet in Orange Park. Day-of-race registration begins at 7:30. You can find out more about the event, or register in advance, at

Florida Striders Fall Half Marathon Class

The Florida Striders will be conducting a 14-week half marathon class this fall! The class begins on September 14, and will culminate in the running of the Ameris Bank Jacksonville Half Marathon on December 18. Classes will meet at St. John’s Country Day School for track work on Wednesdays at 6 o’clock in the evening, and then on Sundays at the IHOP on Blanding at 6:30 in the morning for the long runs.

The class will be open to beginners and advanced runners, alike, but anyone signing up for the class must be currently running at least 3 times per week, for a minimum of 3 miles or 30 minutes. The training schedule will have you running 4 times a week.
